Got Zileybi cravings? I tried this really simple recipe I found on YouTube and it turned out really yummy. Usually zileybi is made by fermenting the batter for minimum 12 hours. This recipe uses yogurt instead and its done with less time. Hope you will try this recipe and do let me know how it turns out. 🙂

  1. To make the batter: 1. Take a bowl and mix together your flour, corn flour, baking powder and food coloring. 2. Next add yogurt and water. Now combine it to form a not too thick not too thin batter. 3. Cover it with some plastic wrap and keep it aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. To make the syrup: 1. Take a deep pot or saucepan (it is important you use a deep one so you can soak the zileybi'swell. 2. Add the sugar, water, cardamom and lemon juice to the pot/saucepan. 3. Turn on the stove and medium-low and mix it until the sugar dissolves. 4. Bring it to a boil and let it simmer for 15 seconds. 5. Turn off the heat and let it cool down.
  3. Make the zileybi's 1. Heat oil in your frying pan at medium-high. 2. Put your batter into an icing bag or a ketchup bottle. 3. Once the oil is hot, start swirling your Zileybi's into the oil. 4. Fry from both sides and once crispy take it and put into the syrup you prepared earlier. 5. Repeat until you run out of batter.
